TreesUpstate is hosting tree giveaways across the Upstate as a part of its Energy Saving Trees program.

On Friday, the group, in partnership with Duke Energy, hosted a giveaway in Greer at Turner Park. Residents could choose from 14 tree species. In total, TreesUpstate plans to give away 4,000 free trees this Spring.

The giveaway also came with entertainment and educational booths. Greer CPW educated residents on the importance of calling 811 before you dig, and the City of Greer public services department had a booth to talk to residents. Attendees enjoyed drinks from Little Leaf Coffee, and a cornhole station was set up.

Greer’s event was the first in the Spring tree giveaway in the series. For more information on TreesUpstate, visit their website.
