The Blue Ridge branch has designated areas for teens, children and those wanting a little extra quiet.

The Blue Ridge Library is inviting local teens to compete in a bookmark competition honoring the community.

Blue Ridge is the newest branch in the Greenville County Library System, having opened its doors in December. In celebration, library officials say they wanted to see what makes the community and the new branch special to the area’s teens.

The competition is for sixth to twelfth-grade students looking to showcase their skills and design a bookmark around the theme “Blue Ridge.” Designs can relate to the area, the community or the new library.

Those interested in participating should stop by the Blue Ridge Library to pick up a bookmark template and other informational handouts. Submissions are due back at the library by April 17, 2026, before close. Staff will review the works to determine a winner based on technical skill, creativity and how the design relates to the theme.

A small batch of the winning bookmark design will be distributed at the Blue Ridge Branch, and the artist will be given some copies to keep. Winners will be notified the week following the submission deadline, and library staff encourages all patrons to attend an awards ceremony on April 30 to see the art.

“It’s always exciting when we can introduce new patrons to the newest branch,” said Amy Grubbs, branch manager. “The community has been so receptive and encouraging … Many patrons tell us they are coming to the library more often because our location is so much closer to where they live.”

On Tuesday, March 17, the branch will host a time for interested patrons to come in and work on their designs. The event will be from 4-5 p.m. at the library (4031 N Highway 101). For more information, visit the event page.
