Dick Brooks Honda in Greer presented a check for $10,000 to Greer Community Ministries on Wednesday morning.
The donation will benefit the nonprofit’s Meals on Wheels program, which delivers meals to homebound individuals in the community. The program is one of Greer Community Ministries’ largest operations, serving hundreds each week.
“Meals on Wheels is our biggest expense at Greer Community Ministries. We’re putting out 340 meals, five days a week in the greater Greer area,” said Jeff Farrington, executive director of Greer Community Ministries. “To be able to have this donation to put toward that program is huge. We appreciate every donation — we would not be able to serve the area without that support.”
The grant was supported by the South Carolina Automobile Dealers Association’s Dealers in the Community program. Dick Brooks Honda has been involved with Greer Community Ministries for nearly three decades. The dealership will host its 29th Annual Meals on Wheels Golf Tournament this October to raise funds and awareness for the program.
“Dick Brooks Honda has been committed to Greer Community Ministries for many years, and [we] are committed to doing charitable work throughout the community,” said Ed Rich, executive general manager of Dick Brooks Honda. “Being involved with Meals on Wheels lets us bless people with food and with contact with other people.”
