The South Carolina State Election Commission (SEC) is encouraging voters to keep the momentum going after a record-breaking first day of early voting for the June 9 primary. More than 56,000 ballots were cast on the first day of early voting, setting a new record for a primary election in South Carolina.
The following counties recorded South Carolina’s highest early voting turnout on May 26:
1. Richland: 7,451
2. Charleston: 6,788
3. Greenville: 3,713
4. Berkeley: 2,862
5. Horry: 2,476
“This is democracy in action, and we want to make sure every eligible South Carolinian has the opportunity to be part of it,” said Conway Belangia, SEC Executive Director. “Early voting centers across the state are open and ready — make your plan and cast your ballot.”
Early voting for the June 9 primary runs through Friday, June 5, with centers open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
