On Monday, Greenville County Schools Superintendent Dr. Burke Royster earned an exemplary evaluation in his annual performance review by the Greenville County Schools Board of Trustees.
In keeping with Board Policy CEI, Dr. Royster’s leadership was assessed in each of six categories: Instructional Leadership; Quality Personnel; Culture of Achievement; Organizational, Operational and Resource Management; Communications and Community Relationships; Tone from the Top
“This evaluation is a reflection of the tremendous growth and achievement Greenville County Schools has made under Dr. Royster’s leadership,” said GCS Board of Trustees Chair Dr. Carolyn Styles. “For the first time in the district’s history, the graduation rate has surpassed 90%, an 18-point increase since Dr. Royster became Superintendent in 2012. Additionally, our most recent graduating class achieved the highest percentage of college or career readiness, and 97.7% of schools rated Excellent, Good, or Average on the State Report Cards. This level of progress and attainment is not by accident and shows what intentional leadership paired with the hard work of students, educators, staff, and families can collectively accomplish.”
As a result of this positive evaluation, the Board unanimously approved a motion to extend Royster’s contract through June 30, 2029.
