As part of the new partnership with Axon for upgraded body-worn cameras, the Greenville Sheriff’s Office plans to implement the Axon FUSUS Community Connect Program.
The program allows citizens and businesses with security cameras to partner with the sheriff’s department and build stronger collaboration between law enforcement, businesses and community members.
There are two levels in which the public can partner with the sheriff’s department. Level One is camera registry.
“Register your business or residence as having security cameras and provide contact information,” said the recent statement. “This registry appears on our secure FUSUS map, helping deputies quickly identify nearby cameras that may have captured valuable footage related to an incident.”
The registry allows the sheriff’s department to email a digital footage request to camera owners and for owners to fulfill the request electronically.
Level Two is live camera integration.
“For those who wish to take community partnership a step further, you can integrate your existing camera system directly into our FUSUS platform through a core device,” said the recent statement. “This allows you to select which cameras share a live feed with our Real Time Crime Center.”
