Greer CPW has been awarded a $1.05 million grant from the S.C. Rural Infrastructure Authority (RIA).
Combined with Greer CPW funding, the funds will support critical wastewater infrastructure improvements and enhance system reliability, totaling more than $1.4 million in investment.
“Grant funding allows us to make impactful improvements to our utilities without placing a financial burden on our customers,” Brendan Crawford, Greer CPW engineering and planning manager said. “We’re thankful to the RIA for helping us maintain affordable, reliable and high-quality utility services.”
The project will focus on wastewater infrastructure near the intersection of Brockman McClimon and Stevens Roads and will involve replacing 4,300 linear feet of ductile iron piping with high strength polyvinyl chloride (PVC) piping used to transport wastewater from pump stations to the Maple Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant.
“This project will allow us to address critical infrastructure needs, improve operational performance and continue to be responsible stewards of public resources,” Daniel Fahr, Greer CPW wastewater operations manager. “By investing in the reliability and resilience of our wastewater system today, we are helping ensure dependable service for our community well into the future.”
Greer CPW expects to order materials and advertise the project for bid in the fall of 2026. Due to the location of the infrastructure, customer impacts during construction are expected to be minimal.
