Greer CPW is gearing up for its fourth-annual Lake Robinson Day this Saturday, Oct. 18.

Lake Robinson Day is an event for the community to come and learn about one of Greer’s important water sources. Originally, the event was hosted by local group Friends of Lake Robinson, and was called the “Day of Celebration.” The last Day of Celebration happened in 2017, before Greer CPW picked up the event in 2022.

“The focus then and the focus now is to educate the public about where Greer CPW gets its drinking water from,” said Alison Rauch, Public Information Coordinator at Greer CPW. “... All the exhibitors that will be there tie in somehow to water quality, sustainability [or] protecting the environment.”

This year, the event features a range of activities, including educational exhibits, inflatables and kayaking. Greer CPW is also offering outdoor yoga sessions and a rain barrel workshop, which require preregistration online.

Rauch says that, while some activities may be listed as full online, she still encourages people to come and see if they can participate. In addition to these activities, there will be a tree giveaway while supplies last and a blood drive benefitting The Blood Connection.

According to Rauch, Lake Robinson Day aims to highlight all the lake does for the people and businesses of the town.

“It really is an economic driver and an engine. That body of water keeps so many businesses in operation because they use our drinking water,” Rauch said. “It also, on the other side, brings people out to recreate and enjoy it. So it was really important for us to bring this event back to the community to highlight Lake Robinson.”

In addition to appreciating the lake’s natural beauty, Rauch says that the CPW hopes residents will learn more about the company behind their water.

“A lot of people just don't understand the steps and the methods that go into getting your water to come out of your tap and all the processes that it goes through,” Rauch said. “So we're hoping that people come out on Saturday for some fun, some education [and] learn a little bit about who we are and what we do.”

Lake Robinson Day will be held on Saturday, Oct. 18, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. More information can be found on Greer CPW’s website
