The Greer Fire Department has received two new trucks, marking a historic achievement for the team.
For the first time, Greer Fire now operates with a fully-matched fleet — meaning that all of their fire engines are outfitted with the same equipment at all of their stations. According to station officials, this helps with efficiency when assigning employees to different stations.
The two new fire engines were received in early February. They are both Pierce-model engines, equipped with a 2000 GPM Waterous pump, 750‑gallon tank and a low hose bed for improved safety.
According to Deputy Fire Chief Josh Holzheimer, one of the new engines will be assigned to Station 41, which is the main station on Poinsett Street. The other will be assigned to Station 97 on St. Mark Road until the Gross Meadow Road Station is opened. The trucks they replace will be rotated to reserve status.
