The Greer High School Bands program will be hosting its second-annual Jacket Jam next weekend, showcasing food trucks, local vendors, a car show and plenty of local student talent.
The 2026 Jacket Jam will be held on Saturday, April 18, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Greer High School. According to Band Director David Keller, the event comes at the conclusion of a great year for the band programs, which boasts more than 100 students.
“It’s been an incredibly successful year for us. We had our marching band place sixth in the state, which is the highest that we’ve done in about 11 years, [and] our Winter Guard finished fifth in their classification just in their fourth year of existence,” Keller said. “Our concert band had its concert performance assessment two weeks ago, and we earned the highest rating that you can — a superior with distinction.”
The school’s concert band, in addition to its rating, earned an invitation to perform at the State Concert Festival. Keller notes this as a high honor, with only the 16 top bands in the state being invited.
The Jacket Jam is one of the ways that the band program continues to fund these endeavors. The event will feature more than 40 local vendors and food trucks, with the addition of the inaugural Jacket Jam Car Show. Event organizers say they are looking for cars of all types, and interested car show participants should contact Sarah Williams at sringleinwilliam@greenvilleschools.us.
While much of the event goes to benefit Greer High bands, several other student groups will be in attendance. Attendees can also support the Future Farmers of America club, which will be hosting a plant sale at the event. The school theater program will be promoting the final run of its spring play, “Mean Girls,” and works from the school’s art students will be on display for the community to view.
“There’s a lot of great things that are happening inside the high school, [and] we want the community to find out what else is going on in the building,” Keller said. “There are so many programs that don’t always get the same visibility as the football team or the marching band, and we want to make sure that everybody has an opportunity to come in and see them.”
