The Greer Heritage Museum unveiled its new look on Saturday with a ribbon-cutting and open house.

The museum has been under renovation for several months, and the culmination of that labor resulted in what Museum Director David Lovegrove described as the biggest event seen at the museum. The open house began with a ribbon-cutting on the museum steps before attendees went inside to get a look at the new exhibits.

“It really wasn't a ribbon-cutting on a new exhibit —
it was a ribbon-cutting on a new museum,” Lovegrove said. “We have changed not just all of the exhibits, but how we tell Greer’s story.”

In addition to serving as the museum’s open house, the event served as a kick-off to Greer’s 150th anniversary. Attendees were able to shop at the new Greer 150 store, and information about the sesquicentennial was posted throughout the space. Several museum volunteers were stationed throughout the building to answer attendees’ questions.
