The Greer Police Department will host its annual National Night Out event on Tuesday, Aug. 4, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Century Park (3605 Brushy Creek Rd.).
National Night Out is a nationwide campaign encouraging positive interactions between law enforcement officers and the communities they serve. Greer’s event on Tuesday will feature kids’ activities, giveaways, food vendors and a touch-a-truck.
The event is free to the public. New additions this year include a kids’ passport activity and an art contest. Families can pick up a passport at the event and fill it up by completing a scavenger hunt and visiting various booths in the park.
The Crime Prevention Art Contest is for kids ages 12 and under. Participants can submit original drawings that represent crime prevention or community safety to the Greer Police Department by 4 p.m. on Aug. 3. All entries will be displayed at National Night Out, where attendees will vote on their favorites. For more information on how to enter, follow the Greer Police Department on Facebook.
