The Lyman Town Council approved multiple town purchases at its regular meeting on Monday evening.
The first purchase approved by Council was a $58,600 Christmas lights and decorations package from Brite Lite Decor. The decorations will be used this holiday season to beautify the town. Council approved this purchase unanimously.
Council then approved the purchase of two patrol vehicles for the Lyman Police Department, as well as the upfitting for these two vehicles. Upfitting includes adding emergency lighting, sirens, radios and other public safety equipment. The total cost of these vehicles with the upfitting is $159,206. Council unanimously approved the purchase.
Other items heard by Council included an ordinance amending the town law governing peddlers, or door-to-door solicitors. Under the amended law, peddlers would have to obtain a peddler’s license from the Town of Lyman and must prominently display this license on their person while conducting business.Â
The amendment also updates the hours during which door-to-door soliciting is allowed in town limits. Peddling activities would only be allowed between the hours of 9 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Council approved the amended law unanimously on its first reading, and it will be heard for a final reading at next month’s meeting.
The final item voted on by Council was a resolution authorizing the submission of road resurfacing projects for funding consideration to the Spartanburg County Penny Sales Tax Program. The town is requesting a total resurfacing of Ridge Road, Walcott Drive and Springlake Estates Drive. Council approved the resolution unanimously.
