Lyman's mayoral race came down to the wire, but current town councilman David Petty narrowly defeated incumbent mayor Glenn Greer by a vote count of 432-419.

According to the Lyman Code of Ordinances, when more than one person is seeking election to a single office, the candidate who receives the highest number of votes is declared elected. So, it was not required for Petty to receive more than 50% of the vote to secure the seat.
