The Spartanburg District Five Board of Trustees has approved the district's 2026-27 budget.

The $168,909,559 budget was unanimously approved on Monday evening, marking a 7% increase from the previous year. For the 20th year in a row, Spartanburg District Five officials say the budget does not include an operating millage increase for taxpayers.

Under next year’s budget, all eligible teachers will receive a $2,000 raise, in addition to their scheduled step increase. Teachers in the early years of their career (steps 1-9) will receive an enhanced salary increase, intended to improve the district’s competitiveness.  All other eligible employees will receive a 3% raise, in addition to their step increase, if they are eligible to receive one.

Superintendent Dr. Randall Gary praised the budget at Monday night’s meeting.

"District Five is an exceptional place because of the people who are making a difference in the lives of students every day,” Dr. Gary said.  "An investment in our employees is an investment in the future for both our students and the families we serve.  I’m grateful to our Board of Trustees for their leadership and support, and for recognizing the importance of rewarding our hard-working teachers and staff.”
