A Spartanburg man has been arrested following an Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) investigation led by the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office and the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office.
Calvin Johannes Juntunen, 31, faces 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor in the second degree, according to Lt. Graham McLellan at the Sheriff’s Office. The charges stem from evidence that Juntunen knowingly distributed child sexual abuse material (CSAM) using the Kik messaging platform.
The investigation was initiated after a series of CyberTipline reports were submitted to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). Based on these reports, investigators obtained and executed a search warrant at Juntunen’s residence, where, according to authorities, he admitted to distributing the illegal material.
This case remains an active investigation.
