Jeffrey Scott Ward, born on May 24, 1963, passed away on July 31, 2026, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born and raised in Wellford, South Carolina, Jeff spent his entire life in the community he proudly called home. He devoted his career to law enforcement, serving as a sheriff's deputy with the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office and later as a police officer with the City of Wellford. Throughout his career, he was committed to protecting and serving those around him.
Jeff had a larger-than-life personality that left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He enjoyed fishing, spending time outdoors, fixing just about anything and lending a helping hand whenever someone was in need. He will be remembered for his determination, unwavering perseverance, infectious sense of humor and his refusal to ever give up when faced with a challenge.
Above all, Jeff cherished his family.
Surviving are his loving wife, Karen Ward; his daughter, Rachel Traxler and her husband, John; his son, Eugene Johnson and his wife, Chaunetelle; and his beloved grandson, Amias Johnson.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Aug. 9 at The Wood Mortuary Chapel.
Visitation will follow the service at The Wood Mortuary.
Jeff's legacy of service, resilience, generosity and love for his family will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
