Milford Augustus “Ben” Forrester, Jr., 66, gained his angel wings on Monday, Jan. 5, 2026.
A native of Greenville, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Milford Augustus “Gus” and Marsha Virginia “Ginny” Davis Forrester. Ben proudly served the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office as a Master Deputy for 38 years, from where he retired in 2020 to enjoy civilian life. Between serving the citizens and friends of Greenville County, he could be found sharing a pot of coffee, a good story, a loud laugh and a contagious smile. His favorite pastimes include fishing, reading, “piddling” in the yard, and making memories with all his “babies”. He was a lifelong member of the Wade Hampton Masonic Lodge 404. Ben left a lasting impression on so many. He will always be remembered fondly and missed greatly.
Surviving are his wife, Gail Bryson Forrester of the home; four children, Augusta Cannon (Josh) of Travelers Rest, Coly Forrester (Lisa) of Anderson, Adrian Forrester of Boiling Springs, and Toby Hollingsworth (Brooke) of Simpsonville; five grandchildren, Austin Cannon, Gabi Cannon, Theodore Forrester, Harper Hollingsworth, and Lorelai Hollingsworth; and several cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Jan. 24 at Clearview Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Bennie Durham.
Visitation will be held from 2:30-3:45 p.m. Jan. 24, 2026, at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks if you choose, please make memorials in his honor to one of the following programs that Ben supported as often as possible: Shriners Hospitals for Children, 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, South Carolina, 29605, Upstate Warrior Solutions, 770 Pelham Road, Suite 102, Greenville, South Carolina 29615, or The Wounded and Recovery Fund at www.greenville-warfund.com.
