Raymond Edward Briggs, Jr., 86, passed away October 3, 2026.
A native of Batavia, New York, son of the late Raymond Edward Briggs, Sr. and Irene Aramino Briggs, he was a Cryptologic Technician in the United States Navy and retired as a Master Chief after 24 years of service and worked at Aviation Schools Command for 20 years. Raymond was an avid golfer for many years and one of his fondest memories was traveling to play at St. Andrews in Scotland. He had a heart for people and was always willing to provide guidance and mentoring whenever he could.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Barbara Ann Young Briggs; his daughter, Janice Gray (Gary) of Cleveland, South Carolina; his son, John Briggs (Kim) of Inman, South Carolina; three grandchildren, Rebecca Gray, Nathan Gray (Hope), and Jordan Briggs; and seven great-grandchildren, Alex Gray, Daniel Gray, Cole Urban, Mason Urban, Charlotte Gray, Owen Gray, and Raimy Gray.
Raymond was predeceased by a brother, Robert Briggs.
A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Oct. 23 at Saint Rafka Maronite Catholic Church conducted by Father Bartholomew Leon.
An inurnment will take place at a later date in Holy Cross Cemetery, Dansville, New York.
