Rev. Jason Charlie “J.C.” Duncan, Sr., 97, husband of the late Patricia Ann Miller Duncan, passed away October 2, 2026.
A native of Spartanburg County, son of the late William Jason and Arry Nodine Duncan, he was a graduate of Wofford College and Furman University where he received his master’s degree. J.C. was a former member of South Carolina House of Representatives from 1969-1972 and 1975-1980, representing Spartanburg County. He was also a teacher at Jordan High School, Blue Ridge High School, Boiling Springs High School, and Chapman High School, and was the minister at Liberty United Methodist Church for 33 years.
Surviving are a son, Jason Charlie “Chuck” Duncan, Jr. (Bobbi Jean) of St. Helena, South Carolina; four grandchildren, Jessica Kiser (Nick), Samantha McDonald (Michael), Patricia Mosley, and Chelsea Duncan; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Mr. Duncan was predeceased by two daughters, Anne Duncan and Kim Whitten; a brother, Edgar Duncan; and a sister Willie Mae Duncan.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Oct. 6 at The Wood Mortuary Chapel conducted by Mr. Chuck Duncan, Jr.
Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Oct. 6 at The Wood Mortuary.
