Three employees from the Greer Fire Department, Capt. Derrick Davis, Capt. Brian Collins, and Lt. Chase Bradshaw, have been selected to attend the South Carolina State Firefighters' Association Officer Academy. The program is limited to 25 people per cycle and includes physical fitness drills, projects, guest speakers, and live burn evaluations. The Greer Fire Department now has six employees who have been invited to the program.

A group of Buddhist monks are undertaking a 2,300-mile trek from Fort Worth, Texas, to Washington, D.C., to promote national unity and compassion. They are expected to make multiple stops within a two-hour drive from Greer on their journey. The group, which began its walk on Oct. 26, 2025, has become an internet sensation, with thousands of people lining the sides of roads to greet them and offer food and water. While in South Carolina, the group plans to pass through Edgefield, Saluda, Columbia and Rock Hill.

Prisma Health has launched the Sickle Cell Lifespan Center, a systemwide program that provides comprehensive care for patients with sickle cell disease. The center has two dedicated clinics in Greenville and Columbia, and offers advanced services including access to disease-modifying medications, blood transfusions, transformative therapies and clinical trials for emerging treatments. The program is part of national and international sickle cell networks, allowing Prisma Health specialists to collaborate globally and bring the latest research and best practices to South Carolina patients.
