Conway Belangia, the elections director of South Carolina's largest county, Greenville, has been appointed as the interim director of the State Election Commission. Belangia, who has 34 years of experience in election administration, will need Senate approval for the role to become permanent. He hopes to rebuild trust in the commission and ensure that South Carolina maintains its reputation for having a wonderful election system. Belangia's appointment comes after the board fired former director Howard Knapp in September and Jenny Wooten withdrew her candidacy for the role two weeks ago.
