The Town of Lyman has renamed the Park of Lyman as "Allison Park" and the adjacent street as "Rita Allison Way" to honor former State Rep. Rita Allison's decades of service to the community. Allison served in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 1993 to 2002, and again from 2008 to 2022, during which she chaired the House Education and Public Works Committee. The ceremony was attended by community members and political figures, and a bronze plaque will be erected in the park detailing the contributions of Rita and her husband, Ron Allison, to the community.
