Spartanburg District Five Schools has announced the four finalists for the 2026-2027 District Teacher of the Year award. The finalists are Candace Griffey, Lea Elizabeth Harrison, Jared Hembree and Tonya Williams, who were selected from a group of teachers chosen by each school across the district. The finalists will participate in interviews and classroom observations before the District Five Teacher of the Year is announced later this month.
Greenville County Schools has announced the ten finalists for the 2026-27 Teacher of the Year award. The finalists were chosen from approximately 6,000 teachers across the district and will be narrowed down to three finalists and the Teacher of the Year through in-person interviews and classroom observations. The finalists represent a range of subjects and schools across the district. The Teacher of the Year will be announced on Aug. 6.
Morgan Smith, a fifth-grade teacher at Robert E. Cashion Elementary, has been named Greenville County Schools' Teacher of the Year for the 2025-2026 school year. Smith focuses on giving her students opportunities to be independent learners and allowing them to interact with and learn about the careers of several guest speakers. The runners-up for the award were Meagan Wagner, Candace Brownlee-Collins, and Tieraney Gezelle Rice. The first-class teacher awards were given to Kay Kimberlin and John Moldovan, while the emerging teacher awards were awarded to Maddie Smith and Jeremy Dodd.
