The Watershed Ecology Center (WEC) at USC Upstate has been awarded a $14,000 grant by Spartanburg Water to support its mission of encouraging community watershed awareness. The grant will be used to incorporate water career awareness into the WEC's existing programs, and to create a "Water Works" curriculum specifically for middle school students. The program aims to increase awareness of the importance of protecting water quality and inspiring future generations to value water as a resource and possible career field. The WEC annually reaches over 20,000 K-8 students through watershed-based educational programming.
