Spring is shaping up to be a big one at Greer Golf, and summer looks even busier.
The City-owned public course hosted the Upstate Spring Two-Man Championship on May 16–17, welcoming one of the Greenville County Golf Association's longest-running amateur tournaments.
Greer Golf is also celebrating recent national recognition for its on-site restaurant. White Wine & Butter, located inside the clubhouse, was named on USA Today's 2026 Restaurants of the Year list in a February roundup consisting of only 39 establishments nationwide.
Now, as summer approaches, the course is opening its doors to young golfers through First Tee summer sessions and a full slate of junior and family memberships.
A public course with plenty of history
Greer Golf is an 18-hole public course owned and operated by the City of Greer. Since opening in 1955, it's played to a par of 72 across 6,350 yards from the back tees. The layout winds through rolling terrain and mature trees, with Lake Apalache bordering the signature 14th hole, a dogleg par-4. The third hole, an uphill par-4, is notably the course's most challenging.
The City of Greer purchased the course in February 2020, and improvements have followed steadily since; new turf has been installed across all fairways and tee boxes, bunkers have been rebuilt, irrigation systems have been upgraded, a new cart fleet is in service and clubhouse renovations are complete. Even still, further work on the maintenance facilities and driving range is planned.
