On Friday night, four Greer-area teams took road trips for the first round of the 2025 football playoffs.
All four went home empty-handed.
Riverside fell 35-14 to Hillcrest after Rams quarterback Jackson Free accounted for four total touchdowns (3 passing, 1 rushing) to down the Warriors. Camilo Morrison hauled in six passes for 66 yards and a score for Riverside, but it was far from enough against a stout, talented Hillcrest team.
Greer traveled to Camden and took a hefty loss, falling 38-20 to the Bulldogs. Camden was up by a margin as large as 38-6 in the fourth quarters before a pair of late touchdowns from Greer QB Xavier Sammet made the final scoreline more respectable.
Eastside fell 28-10 to Gaffney. Star running back and linebacker Lucas Tankersley was carted off the field with an injury in the first half of a game the Eagles were never truly able to get going.
Blue Ridge took a 42-28 loss to Wren on Friday night, as well. The Tigers fell into a 42-7 hole before storming back in the fourth with three touchdowns to make it a closer ballgame.
The only Greer-area football team remaining in the postseason is Byrnes. The Rebels had a bye week in the 5-A D1 playoffs this week, but will return to action at home next week vs. Rock Hill.
