Gaffney took it to the Jackets early, going up 42-0 before the halftime break. The second half was played with a running clock as Greer dropped its fourth-straight game, falling to 3-4 on the season.
Blue Ridge 40, Broome 6
A big morale-boosting win for the Tigers who had dropped their previous four games. The Tiger offense, led by QB Holden Powell, was on fire from the start of this one, as Blue Ridge improved to 2-5 on the season and 1-1 in 3-A Region 3 play.
Riverside 31, Wade Hampton 8
The Warriors jumped out to an early lead and didn't look back, defeating the Generals to win their third-straight game. With the win, Riverside remains tied atop the 4-A Region 2 standings alongside Gaffney and Greenville at 2-0.
Byrnes 42, Mauldin 21
The Mavericks hung tough in this one, but two third-quarter Gideon Merhib touchdown passes eventualy put the game out of reach. The Rebels outscored Mauldin 28-7 in the second half to win their second-straight game. Byrnes moves to 2-0 in 5-A Region 2 play and is the heavy favorite to claim the region crown.
Woodmont 35, Eastside 24
A valiant performance from the Eagles after a crushing loss vs. J.L. Mann last week, but it was the Wildcats who came out victorious in the 5-A Region 2 clash. Eastside has dropped its last two and it 0-2 in region play.
