Scores and brief notes from Greer-area high school football games on Sept. 25.
Laurens 34, Greer 6
The Yellow Jackets came out of a bye week flat, as Greer was beaten on Homecoming night by a resurgent Laurens squad. Both teams move to 3-2 on the season with the result.
Riverside 28, Broome 13
The Warriors earn their first win of the season on Homecoming night, thanks largely to a dominant performance from junior WR Peyton Stevenson. Stevenson had three total TDs (two receiving, one kickoff return) in Riverside's hard-fought victory.
Gaffney 20, Byrnes 17
The Rebels rallied late, scoring the game's final 17 points in the second half, but a hot start from the Indians and a heroic performance from Gaffney QB Corey Taylor doomed Byrnes. The Rebels have now lost three straight matchups against rival Gaffney.
Eastside 48, Easley 19
Everything is going right for the Eagles currently who have now won three straight games. Eastside, who began the season 0-2, now sits at 3-2 and will look to carry that momentum into next week's 5-A Region 2 opener against J.L. Mann.
Chesnee 35, Blue Ridge 19
The Tigers fight but fall to 1-4 on the season with a region opener against unbeaten Chapman awaiting next week.
