Christian Snell Eastside pic

Christian Snell is a senior track-and-field standout for Eastside High School. Snell is committed to run collegiately at Anderson University, but before that, he’s got his sights set on a state championship to close out his senior year.

GreerNews.com caught up with Snell this week to talk about his senior season, his favorite memories at Eastside, and his plans for the future.

GreerNews.com (GN): Christian, you’ve already managed to have a pretty accomplished career here at Eastside. As you prepare to finish out your senior year, what are some goals you’ve set for this final season?

Christian Snell (CS): I’d say I want to make an even bigger impact on the team in my last year. I’ve already accomplished a lot of the things I want to do individually before heading off to college. But I’d love to finish the year by getting an individual state title.

GN: What are some of the ways this program has shaped you over the years?

CS: When I transferred here from Camden Military Academy two years ago, it’s improved how I train and how I act around people. It’s been a great fit for me in shaping me, especially with all of the coaches and how they treat me.

GN: What have you liked most about moving up to the Upstate two years ago?

CS: I love the quality of training and the quality of the running community up here. When you’re surrounded by good people as I have been since moving here, it makes everything so much easier.

GN: What drew you to Anderson University? What made you want to commit and sign to run there in college?

CS: They started showing interest in me at the beginning of this year. The school is an amazing community full of great people. The team is bonded together, and the coach really cares about the program and the runners.

GN: What kind of impact do you hope to leave to your younger teammates before you leave?

CS: I want to show them that hard work you put in can truly pay off, and to never give up.

GN: What would you say is your proudest accomplishment from your time here at Eastside?

CS: Definitely last year, sitting on the podium after winning the 4x800 state championship. That was a really big accomplishment. Just to see the hard work that the guys put in pay off, that was an incredible feeling. We knew we had it in us, but we just had to execute.

GN: To those who don’t know who Christian Snell is aside from what you can do on the track, how would you best describe yourself?

CS: Honestly, I’m just a pretty athletic and goofy guy. I love hanging out with friends, and I love the outdoors. That’s the best way I can describe who I am.
