Sewing Up Dreams will host a Christmas Open House this Saturday, featuring local vendors, a craft workshop and plenty of festive activities to kick off the holiday season.
A local custom infant and children’s clothing store, Sewing Up Dreams has served the Greer community for over a decade. In the summer of 2024, they moved into their first brick-and-mortar location, a shared house with Creative Minds LLC.
This is the second year for the open house, and Sewing Up Dreams’ Owner Leigh Radlein says attendees can expect a much bigger event than last year. The free event is open to the public from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Nov. 8 at 703 W. Poinsett St.
“Last year was the first time being in the brick-and-mortar location,” said Radlein. “I have grown even more since then. So this year, there will be additional vendors, additional sales, Santa Claus will be there, and I'm also inviting Creative Minds to offer ornament making.”
Those wishing to see Santa should stop by between 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Radlein will also be debuting Sewing Up Dreams’ 2025 Christmas ornament at the event. All proceeds from the ornament will benefit the Syl Syl Christmas Toy Drive, a local effort that Radlein’s family participates in every year.
“For the 20-plus years that we have been doing it as a family, it just kind of kicks off my Christmas,” said Radlein. “... [And] I've said since I started my business, if you give to Greer, Greer will take care of you.”
Radlein hopes the event will spark some holiday joy and remind people of the value of supporting local businesses as they check off their Christmas gift lists.
“I hope they find a new comfort place to come to, where they can get something special to give,” she said. “This is not something you go to Target to get. Everything I have in here is unique.”
