Byrnes High School’s AJ Smith is the GreerNews.com Athlete of the Week, presented by GreerNews.com.

Voting opened Monday and remained open until 6 p.m on Wednesday. Voters were able to cast a ballot once per day during the campaign.

Smith shot a team-best 78 to help the Lady Rebel girls golf team capture its first team region championship since 2020.

Nominees for the week of October 11-17 included Smith, Holden Powell of Blue Ridge, and Zion Nunez of Greer.

The GreerNews.com Athlete of the Week is a weekly initiative that will run 32 weeks during the 2026-2027 school year. Athletes from Greer, Byrnes, Riverside, Eastside, Greer Middle College, and Blue Ridge are eligible.
