Voting opens Monday at noon for the GreerNews.com Athlete of the Week, presented by D&D Motors.

Voting will remain open until noon on Wednesday, Dec. 17. Voters can cast a ballot once per day during the campaign.

The Athlete of the Week will be announced on GreerNews.com on Wednesday night, Dec. 17.

Nominees for the week of Dec. 8-14 are:

Opal Maralit, Blue Ridge girls basketball

Maralit helped lead her Lady Tigers to a 3-0 week by averaging 17 points, six rebounds, and five assists per game. Maralit and Blue Ridge are now sitting at a perfect 6-0 with a trip to Fountain Inn coming up Tuesday.

Jordan Miller, Byrnes wrestling

Miller is a perfect 5-0 in duals this season, winning three of his matches by pinfall, including a victory against a returning state finalist from 2024-25.

Owen Bishop, Greer wrestling

In Bishop’s first tournament this season, he was able to overcome a first-round loss to battle back to fourth place in the Bracket for the Jacket. Going 4-2 on the day, Bishop was able to reach the podium. As a junior, Bishop stepped up for a Greer team that has suffered some serious injuries lately.
