Voting is now open for the GreerNews.com Athlete of the Week, presented by D&D Motors.
Voting will remain open until noon on Wednesday, Sept. 10. Voters can cast a ballot once per day during the campaign.
The Athlete of the Week will be recognized at practice on Wednesday afternoon and then announced on GreerNews.com on Wednesday night, Sept. 10.
Nominees for the week of Sept. 1-7 are:
Gavin Forrester, QB, Blue Ridge
The Blue Ridge QB did it both through the air and on the ground against Polk County on Friday night, racking up 218 total yards and four total touchdowns (two rushing, two passing) as Blue Ridge picked up a big 35-19 win.
McKenley Noble, Libero, Riverside
Noble held a 2.6 passing average for this past week, had 17 digs and went 100 percent from the service line in Thursday's clash vs. Wade Hampton. Riverside won 3-1 vs. the Lady Generals.
Sophia Petrillo, Libero, Greer
Petrillo had 36 digs, 41 serve receptions, three assists, three aces, and a kill as Greer went 2-0 on the week, including a down-to-the-wire 3-2 win Thursday over Travelers Rest.
Aiden Crump, DE, Blue Ridge
The Blue Ridge defensive end racked up four sacks and three tackles for loss in the Tigers' 35-19 win over Polk County.
The GreerNews.com Athlete of the Week will be a weekly initiative that will run 32 weeks during the 2025-2026 school year.
