The Greer Heritage Museum is inviting residents to preserve their family’s stories at a history drive next weekend.
On Saturday, May 16, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., residents can bring their photos, documents or artifacts related to Greer to the museum. Attendees can donate their items, or, if they wish to keep their old treasures, bring them to be scanned and returned.
The history drive is a part of the museum’s Greer150 programming, which celebrates the 150th anniversary of the city’s chartering. Museum Director David Lovegrove says the event aims to let the wider community play a role in the preservation of local history.
“I run a public history museum, and the ‘public’ component of it is what I love,” Lovegrove said. “Through these events, we are waking up the community to its history. .. I am really excited about our community getting involved and preserving their own family histories.”
