Community members are invited to bring their photos, documents or artifacts related to Greer to the Greer Heritage Museum for its History Drive on Saturday, May 16, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Residents can donate items or have them scanned and returned if they wish to keep their old treasures.
The city of Greer celebrated its 150th anniversary with a community gathering that featured a vintage car show, history programs, live performances, local vendors, and circus acts. The event was held in partnership with the Greer Heritage Museum, which hosted a live Greer150 Radio Show and had booths telling different stories of Greer's history. The celebration was followed by a laser light show, and the city still has many events planned for the sesquicentennial year.
The Greer Heritage Museum is hosting a four-part series called "Stories of Greer" throughout the year to celebrate the city's sesquicentennial. The first event, "The Founding of Greer," will be held at the Historic Greer Depot, which was chosen for its relevance to the town's founding. The events will consist of interviews, video and music components and will be family-friendly. Tickets are free but required for all events for seating purposes.
The City of Greer is celebrating its 150th anniversary in 2026 with Greer150, a year-long initiative that will feature monthly themed events, community storytelling initiatives, cultural programming, heritage projects, and volunteer opportunities. The celebration will culminate in March with a special program at The Historic Greer Depot, a festival at Greer Station, and a major upgrade to the Greer Heritage Museum. Businesses and organizations are encouraged to get involved by hosting or sponsoring events, creating themed promotions, and supporting signature events.
