A familiar downtown eatery has rebranded as 304 Grill, keeping the same faces and menu with an updated atmosphere.
Ollie’s Tavern officially closed its doors in March of this year, before quickly reestablishing itself as 304 Grill. Owner Gradie Cartlidge says he wants to encourage a more relaxed, food-focused environment for customers moving forward.
“We’ve always had a really good menu. People just have not stopped in to eat, so they really don’t know what we have,” Cartlidge said. “If you ever try the food, you’ll definitely be back.”
Cartlidge encourages customers to try the homemade mac and cheese, an old recipe that he says has been very popular among guests.
Since opening as 304 Grill, the restaurant has continued hosting live music acts on Friday evenings. The space has been lightly updated with improved bathrooms and a “Meet me at the 304” sign, but still has the same Ollie’s feel customers know. The small team also retained several employees from Ollie’s Tavern.
304 Grill is open Tuesday through Saturday, 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. Specials throughout the week include wing Wednesday and filet Thursday. Cartlidge says he hopes to make the space like a second home for his customers.
“We’re trying to get our clientele to come in here, have fun and be with friends. And then get rid of the crowd that wants to come and fight,” Cartlidge said. “I want people to come in and enjoy themselves, and it’s just about making them feel welcome.”
