The African Children’s Choir, a program of Music for Life, is touring the Upstate and providing residents with an experience that highlights faith and culture.
Music for Life is an international Christian organization that aims to provide educational and skill-building opportunities for children living in poverty in Africa. The African Children’s Choir is one of the organization’s programs and, this year, is celebrating over four decades of transforming lives through the power of music.
Comprised of children ages 8 to 11, all from vulnerable backgrounds across Africa, the African Children’s Choir will tour Upstate South Carolina throughout the spring. According to Music for Life officials, there are 17 children in the choir this year, each hosted by a local family, where they get to participate in a cross-cultural exchange.
“The African Children’s Choir proves just how powerful music can be,” says Choir Manager, Tina Sipp. “These concerts not only provide hope and encouragement to our audiences, but they also offer the children life-changing experiences that help shape them into future leaders.”
Attendees can expect a variety of traditional hymns and African cultural sounds. No tickets are required, though donations are appreciated to continue the Choir’s work. Here’s a look at the choir’s tour dates:
