This Saturday, the City of Greer’s sesquicentennial celebrations will continue with the Greer Station Groove, a downtown dance party with live music and family-friendly activities.
The Greer Station Groove will be held on Saturday, Aug. 29, from 6-9 p.m. in downtown. The event is part of the Greer 150 event series, co-hosted by the City and the Greer Heritage Museum.
“The Greer Station Groove is celebrating Greer 150, the Stories of Greer series and everything else we’ve been doing this year,” said Jonathan Lovegrove, Marketing Director for the Greer Heritage Museum. “The whole goal is to get people to explore downtown, and I think it will be a really fun way to cap off Stories of Greer, which ends earlier that same day.”
According to city officials, the event will have a variety of activities for attendees to enjoy. There will be live 60s and 70s soul music, played by Sweet Soul. Local food vendors will be on site, and the city’s mobile recreation unit will provide free activities, mini putt-putt and digital caricatures.
“We hope the community will come out and connect with their neighbors, enjoy Motown music from the 60s and 70s, and support the local businesses that are the lifeblood of our historic and vibrant downtown district,” said Michelle Willis, Communications Director for the City of Greer.
