Flying Fox Coffee will soon be expanding with a second Greer location near Lake Cunningham.
The Trade Street coffee shop has been a part of the fabric of downtown since opening in Cartwright Food Hall in 2022. In 2024, the cafe opened an independent storefront downtown, offering a moody, sociable atmosphere for its guests. For its second cafe, it will take over the former Scändi Tiny Coffee location at 301 Simply Less Cir.
“We’re looking forward to continuing coffee service at a location already beloved by so many,” said Jaime Hinckley, owner of Flying Fox. “We’ve always loved the outdoor space at Scändi Tiny, [and] we knew immediately that we’d be able to do a lot with the space and make it a great option for families to spend an afternoon.”
The new cafe will offer the same beverage and pastry menu customers know at its current location, with a few unique twists. The food menu will be altered as the location has no kitchen, and a drive-thru option will allow for quick pickups. This will be the first time Flying Fox has offered a drive-thru for customers.
According to Hinckley, the team hopes to have the new location open within the month. The cafe already has a full staff, many of whom previously worked at Scändi Tiny Coffee. Hinckley described the opportunity to expand into the space as “too exciting to pass up,” and he hopes customers enjoy the Flying Fox experience in a more remote location.
“The new location will feel familiar to Flying Fox customers while still having an identity of its own,” Hinckley said. “We’re excited to reach more people in the community and offer another unique experience to our customers.”
