Greer City Council met for a regular meeting on Tuesday evening, voting on property annexations and moving forward with the city’s fire station project.
Council’s first item of business was the second reading of Ordinance Number 25-2026. This ordinance annexes 1.5 acres on S.C. Highway 101 into the city limits. The property is owned by First Citizens Bank, and the intention is to build a financial institution. Council approved the ordinance unanimously.
In new business, Council approved Resolution Number 21-2026 on its first and final reading. This approves the allocation of CDBG and HOME funds to the city from the Greenville County Redevelopment Authority for program year 2026.Â
These funds are designed to meet urgent needs for low-to-moderate-income communities, as well as establish affordable housing. In Greer, the Redevelopment Authority is allocating a total of $308,783 across both funds. Council approved the resolution unanimously.
Council then heard Ordinance Number 30-2026 for its first reading. This ordinance aims to change the statement of intent for the Blaize Ridge Development, located on Gibbs Shoals Road. The change will allow the developer to convert eight planned townhomes into five single-family homes. Council approved the ordinance unanimously.
The final item of business for Council was the first reading of Ordinance Number 31-2026. This aims to change the zoning classification of 3.79 acres of city-owned property on Groce Meadow Road. The property would be rezoned from Planned Development to Office Professional, with the intent to build a municipal fire station. Council approved the ordinance unanimously.
