Greer CPW to host its annual Holiday Lights Contest

Greer CPW is currently hosting its annual Holiday Lights Contest, with eight contestants across three categories.

The event is a holiday favorite for the CPW team, now in its 11th year. Greer residents have a chance to get involved, too, by voting for their favorite light display on Greer CPW’s social media pages.

“Greer CPW looks for the brightest, boldest and most creative holiday displays in our service territory,” said Alison Rauch, public information coordinator at the CPW. “This has been a great way for us to share the holiday spirit while promoting the use of LEDs and timers for energy efficiency.”

The competition opens each year to Greer CPW residential electric customers. There are three categories: “Judges Favorite,” “Best Use of LED” and “Social Media Favorite.” Winners of the categories will receive a $250 prize.

For the first two competitions, Greer CPW employees rank the homes based on their creativity and originality, visual impact, theme execution, craftsmanship, holiday spirit and use of LEDs. Homes that opt for LED lights, a more energy-efficient lighting, receive extra credit.

For the “Social Media Favorite” competition, Greer CPW is asking residents to vote for their favorite display by liking the post featuring that home. Votes can be cast on Facebook or Instagram until Dec. 30 at 5 p.m.
