BYRNES WRESTLING GOES 4-0 AT REBEL DUELS
Byrnes boys wrestling went 4-0 as hosts of the Rebel Duels this week. Byrnes took down Greer 75-6, defeated South Pointe 54-12, beat Nation Ford 59-15, and toppled Belton Honea-Path by a score of 47-18.
The wins improved Byrnes to 12-3 on the season with region play on the horizon after the winter break.
RIVERSIDE FINISHES 3-0 AT HOGGARD HOLIDAY CLASSIC
Riverside boys basketball continued a hot start to the season by going 3-0 at the Hoggard Holiday Classic in Wilmington, NC. The Warriors defeated host Hoggard 58-54, took down Laney (NC) 63-50, and downed Palisades (NC) 52-36.
The Warriors are now 11-2 on the season. Riverside will take on Greer at 4:45 p.m. on Jan. 3 as part of the PrepHoops Showcase at Greenville High School.
LADY TIGERS WIN BATTLE AT THE BORDER SILVER CHAMPIONSHIP
After a close loss to Thomas Jefferson (NC) on the first day of the Battle at the Border tournament at Landrum High School, Blue Ridge girls basketball responded by rattling off two wins to close the event.
The Lady Tigers took down High Point and Broome with ease to win the Silver Bracket championship at the tournament. Blue Ridge is now 13-2 on the season.
BYRNES STAYS UNBEATEN IN CHARLESTONÂ
Byrnes girls basketball took a four-day trip to Charleston from Dec. 27-30 to play quality opponents to close the non-region slate.
The Lady Rebels defeated David Crockett (TN) 79-47, Calvary Day (NC) 80-52, and First Baptist 65-63 to stay unbeaten on the year at 13-0.
In Byrnes’ Dec. 30 matchup vs. First Baptist, Ashlyn Evans led the way in scoring with 23. Jaida Johnson added 15, and Ellison Silver poured in 13 for the Lady Rebels.
BLUE RIDGE BOYS TO PLAY FOR BATTLE AT THE BORDER CHAMPIONSHIPÂ
Blue Ridge boys basketball opened the Battle at the Border tournament at Landrum with wins over Union County and Brevard (NC) to earn a spot in the Gold Bracket championship of the tournament.
The Tigers will take on host Landrum at 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 30.
