A festival for book lovers will soon be making its return to downtown Greer.
The Fall Book Festival, a free event hosted by local writing group Creative Slingers of Ink, will come to the Randall House in Greer on Saturday, Oct. 17, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. This is the third festival the group has hosted in the city, featuring around 30 authors and 180 individual titles.
“All of the authors are going to have their books there for people to browse through and purchase — and they’ll sign them and all the fun stuff,” said Mandy Jo Squires, founder of Creative Slingers of Ink. “We’re also going to have our Passport to Reading, which is now digital.”
Passport to Reading is a challenge attendees can participate in while at the event. Each author will have a code to enter into the passport, and more codes mean more entries into the drawing for multiple boxes of books. All of the books were donated by the authors in attendance.
The event will feature a combination of local and out-of-state authors. Five states and more than 25 genres will be represented. Other event highlights include mini pancakes from Pancake Paradise and a non-alcoholic beverage bar brought by Sippin’ Ain’t Easy.
While this is their fourth event in Greer, Creative Slingers of Ink hosted large book events for several years when they were based out of Michigan. Squires said the events have continued to grow larger each year, with another expansion on the horizon.
“This event will be our last at the Randall House because we are expanding,” Squires said. “Next year, we will have the Stories and Ink Expo, and it will be held at the Prisma Health Performance Center with over 60 authors.”
For this year’s festival, Squires encourages participants to bring their tote bags and head home with plenty of books. To learn more about the 2026 Fall Book Festival or Creative Slingers of Ink, visit creativeslingersofink.com/fall-book-festival/.
