The Greer Farmers Market will soon host its annual Chili Cookoff Fundraiser, inviting residents to sample more than 10 varieties of locally made chili.
This year’s Chili Cookoff is happening Sunday, Nov. 15, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Greer City Park. It will feature more than 45 local farmers, makers and bakers, alongside live music by the Cashmere Possums. The highlight of the day is the cook-off itself, where attendees can sample delicious chili recipes and cast their vote for the best.
Taste tickets are $1 each and will be available for purchase at the Greer Farmers Market booths. Currently, there are 16 contestants in the cook-off. Every ticket purchased will support the Greer Farmers Market and its food assistance programs.
Chili tasters will receive a voting stick to cast their ballot for the People’s Choice Award at the Greer Farmers Market booths by 1 p.m. In addition, a panel of expert judges will select the Judges’ Choice Award winner. Winners will be announced during the ceremony at 1:30 p.m.
Competitors will continue serving chili until 2 p.m. or until sold out, so guests are encouraged to come hungry and try them all. For more information on the Greer Farmers Market or its events, visit greerfarmersmarket.com.
