The Greer Farmers Market is bringing back its Annual Chili Cookoff Fundraiser this Friday, November 14 from 4:30 to 8 p.m. at Greer City Park.
According to event organizers, this year’s event will feature more than 45 local farmers and artisans, alongside live music, food trucks and, of course, plenty of chili to try. The event is held by the farmer’s market, in partnership with Greer Alive and the City.
The highlight of the evening is the Chili Cookoff, where community members can sample chili recipes and cast their vote for the best. Taste tickets are one dollar each — purchase one ticket per contestant to try them all. Every ticket purchase supports the Greer Farmers Market and its food assistance programs.
Chili tasters will receive a voting stick to cast their ballot for the People’s Choice Award. All votes must be submitted by 7:15 p.m. on the night of the event. In addition, a panel of expert judges will select the Judges’ Choice Award winner. The winners of both of these awards will be announced during the official ceremony at 7:30 p.m.
Competitors will continue serving chili until 8 p.m. or until sold out. Tickets and voting will be available at the Greer Farmers Market booths.
In addition to the cookoff, the Greer Centennial Lions Club will be hosting its Polar Plunge during the event. Follow them on social media for details on how to participate or support.
