The Greer Police Department responded to the area of Gap Creek Road and Country Club Road after receiving a call regarding a suspicious person believed to be carrying a weapon. Officers responded to the call around 2 p.m.

According to the department, multiple officers searched the area on foot and by vehicle, while also utilizing the department’s drone program to assist in the search effort. Due to the close proximity of Greer Middle and Greer High Schools, both campuses were placed in a secure status as a precaution to ensure the safety of students, staff and the public.
