The City of Greer revealed the official name of its new sports and events center on Tuesday, announcing a 10-year naming rights partnership with Prisma Health.
Under the agreement, the facility will be named the Prisma Health Performance Center. The partnership is valued at $3 million over 10 years. Currently under construction, the 200,000-square-foot facility is expected to open in early 2027.
“Prisma is a long-standing partner in the Greer community,” said Greer Mayor Rick Danner. “And with the health aspect of the project, it just felt like it was a good fit.”
Once completed, the Prisma Health Performance Center will have nine basketball courts that can convert into 18 volleyball courts, a fitness center, an elevated walking track, a dedicated wrestling room and a café. The facility will host youth and adult sports while also housing Prisma Health orthopedic and rehabilitation services.
“We are proud to partner with the City of Greer on a project that will have a lasting impact on the community,” said Todd Walker, chief executive officer of Prisma Health Greer Memorial Hospital. “... With sports, recreation, orthopedic care and rehabilitation services all in one location, the center will help support healthier lives while bringing people together.”
The sports and events center has been an ongoing project in the City of Greer. The City broke ground on the site about a year ago after several years of planning. The center is the largest project of Greer’s ForGreer initiative, a $100 million investment in four capital projects throughout the city.
Greer City Councilman Mark Hopper has seen the Prisma Health Performance Center take shape throughout his time serving on Council. He says the space will serve as both a sports tourism destination, as well as a community hub for local residents.
“This facility, first and foremost, is for our residents,” Hopper said. “There are dozens of different ways that residents from 4 to 84 years old are going to be here for free, accessible, diverse programming.”
The Prisma Health Performance Center will be located at 1529 S. Highway 14 in Greer. More information about the project and construction updates are available on the City’s website.
