Steve White Auto Group is expanding to Spartanburg with the acquisition of Volkswagen of Spartanburg, bringing the long-standing dealership back under local ownership for the first time in several years.

Volkswagen of Spartanburg has been in Upstate for decades as part of the Vic Bailey Automotive family, a multi-generational, locally owned dealership group. In 2023, the dealership was acquired by a large regional automotive group, reflecting an industry-wide trend of consolidation. Now, Steve White Auto Group is returning the dealership to its local, family-owned roots, with a commitment to strengthening community connections.

“We’ve seen firsthand what a difference local, owner-on-site management makes at a car dealership. Our goal is to create an experience where our employees and customers feel known, valued, and taken care of - and that starts with leadership that’s present and engaged every single day,” says Marc White, Dealer Principal for Steve White Auto Group.

Steve White Volkswagen Spartanburg, located at 2671 Reidville Road, will continue offering new Volkswagen vehicles, manufacturer-certified service and a wide selection of pre-owned vehicles. Current employees will be retained, with additional hiring expected across sales, service and support roles as the dealership grows.

Company officials say they hope to continue to invest in the dealership’s facilities, operations and customer experience, with a focus on modernization and increased service capacity to meet growing demand in the Spartanburg market.

“Spartanburg is a community shaped by hard work, innovation, and pride,” says White. “We’ve watched as countless businesses and restaurants opened where empty buildings once stood, and world-class manufacturing transformed the county into a global business hub. We are proud to invest in Spartanburg and be part of what’s next.”
