Novant Health celebrated a significant milestone in the construction of its future hospital on Patewood Drive, as construction teams and health system leaders gathered for a traditional topping out ceremony.Â
The event marked the placement of the final structural steel beam atop the facility, a longstanding construction tradition symbolizing progress, safety and the collective effort of everyone helping bring the project to life. Before the beam was lifted into place, team members from Novant Health, Vannoy Construction, Meadows and Ohly and project partners signed the beam in recognition of their contributions to the project.Â
Expected to open in late 2027, the hospital will expand access to healthcare for patients across Greenville and the Upstate.Â
"This milestone reflects the incredible collaboration and dedication of the many people working to bring this project from vision to reality," Ryan Lee, president of Novant Health's Greenville area said. "Every beam, wall and foundation represents our commitment to expand access to high-quality healthcare and invest in the future of this growing community."Â
Leaders from Novant Health recognized the construction teams whose work has helped advance the project safely and efficiently while creating jobs and economic impact for the region.Â
The future hospital is part of Novant Health's broader investment in the Upstate and will complement the medical office building and ambulatory surgery center opening on the Patewood campus later this year.Â
